Professional Goals:

The sequence illustrated below embodies Raquel's 5 year plan upon graduation from the Didactic Program in Dietetics at SDSU.

WIC Employee/ CLE

Raquel plans to take a year off after graduation to save on finances. Her goal is to get hired on with Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) as a degreed nutritionist. While employed with them, Raquel simultaneously plans on working on obtaining her Certified Lactation Educator (CLE) license.

Dietetic Intern

Raquel's two year plan involves working for one year then applying for a dietetic internship (DI). After one year of working with WIC, she aspires to stay in California for the DI process. Her preferred choice is the WIC internship located in San Diego, California.

Registered Dietitian

Upon completion of the Dietetic Internship, Raquel plans on taking the RD exam shortly after. She would love to focus on community nutrition and women's health. Her goal is to strengthen her knowledge and innate passion in lactation education by working as a head RD with WIC.

Surrogacy

Raquel's interest in surrogacy sparked in high school when a close family member discovered she is unable to carry a child of her own. Raquel has an intense passion for pregnancy, child labor, breast feeding, and the science and human interactions between the three. Once her interest in surrogacy grew and become known amongst family and friends, she began forming conversations with two other very close friends. Both friends are in same-sex relationships that inhibit natural conception among the couples. Therefore, when the timing is right, the legalities among surrogacy will be further researched and carefully considered by Raquel.
